PARKING INDUSTRY TRAINING NEEDS

drivewise has been involved in the parking industry since 1993 and has been providing training since 2000 when we began the centre approval process with Edexcel. We are an approved centre for BTEC Level 2. drivewise has been awarded many new contracts and are delivering parking training across the country. We provide training to groups of enforcement or administration staff or mixed groups. Training is adapted to incorporate local needs.
THE BASIC TRAINING COURSE
Candidates are trained to recognise contraventions, restrictions, road markings and street furniture. They are able to produce Penalty Charge Notices and then identify and record all additional information required to uphold a PCN through the appeals process. There are handouts for each contravention code and each participant is required to describe the contravention and draw a sketch. The Administration courses concentrate more on correspondence instructions than on contraventions. The 5 day course includes daily knowledge checks and a 2 part final accreditation examination. Our training includes group discussions, quizzes and practical exercises to make the course interesting and stimulating. These are supported by use of our 8’ x 4’ roadway (see pictures). The course provides a practical first step towards the BTEC qualification.

THE NATIONAL QUALIFICATION
drivewise recommend that the BTEC Level 2 is achieved over a 2 year period and provides a full national accredited certificate in enforcement or parking administration. This is completed by attending 2 further 1 day training courses and completing a work based log book.

Further training courses are available from supervisor level through to parking management level and various refresher training and accreditation renewal courses.
